The following is a listing of the contents
of our music folders as we conduct our 2011 summer concerts.
(If you would rather see our entire music library, click here.)
The "genre" is a loose set of categories defined as follows:
- Big Band/Jazz
- These are, well, big band and jazz tunes.
- Classic
- These include transcriptions and "classic" concert and military band pieces.
- Concert
- Usually more modern pieces written for concert band.
- Contemporary
- Works, possibly transcriptions or arrangements, that are more contemporary in content or instrumentation.
- Fanfare
- Short fanfares.
- Holiday
- Material used during the Christmas season.
- March
- "Traditional" marches.
- March (Concert)
- Marches that are more suited for sitting than for marching!
- Novelty
- Those works that defy categorization.
- Patriotic
- Works that are traditionally performed around the U.S Independence and Memorial Day holidays.
- Pop
- Transcriptions and arrangements of relatively recent popular music.
- Showtunes
- Transcriptions and arrangements of Broadway, movie, and television themes.
- Standards
- Older popular songs, usually transcribed or arranged.
